COLE-2 is the second in my line of home-brew single-board computers (SBCs).

This project is still in the development stages, hence the breadboard build. The hardware specs as currently planned are:

  • 65C816 CPU running at 6 MHz
  • 1 MB of RAM
  • 256 KB Flash ROM
  • Dual 65C22 VIAs
  • 28L92 Dual UART
  • Parallax Propeller for audio and video
  • ATmega328 for keyboard, mouse, game controllers, and hardware SPI
  • DB-15 VGA connector (80×25 text and TBD bitmap modes)
  • Stereo audio jack (SID emulation)
  • PS/2 keyboard and mouse
  • Two NES-compatible game controller ports
  • User port connected to VIA #2
  • Single expansion slot
  • ATX power supply connector

I plan on building the board in a Mini-ITX form factor so that I can take advantage of readily available cases and power supplies.
